New to the forums here, I've got a 2000 BMW 540i with the getrag 420e 6 speed manual transmission and a 4.4 v8 that barely runs on 6 cylinders. I've been thinking about doing a small block swap like a 5.7 or 5.3 but I'd like to keep the cost as affordable as possible, and
thanks in advance for your consultancy! BR. it will be cheaper just to buy another 540i. If you are going to go thru all that cost and effort I'd just go with a LS swap. You'll end up with a 400+Hp car and those engines have tons of aftermarket support. I've seen swap kits for around 3k. You can buy an LS in good shape for 2ish.
